Rachel Beauchamp was a passenger in the SUV. They were heading east on 42nd Street when someone opened fire. At least one bullet struck Beauchamp in the head. The two other girls in the car were not hit.

She has been trying to straighten out her life."The teen's mother could not explain why her daughter was out at 11 o'clock on a school night. She says her daughter was supposed to have gone straight home after school.
On Friday evening, detectives were investigating possible gang ties to the crime, but they've made no arrests.
