February 23, 2009 (CHICAGO) --More than a dozen candidates vying for the 5th District congressional seat attended a forum on Monday night on the North Side. The forum at Northeastern Illinois University included Democratic, Republican and Green party candidates. They're all hoping to win next week's special primary election to fill the seat left vacant by Rahm Emanuel who left to become President Obama's chief of staff.
The forum was hosted by several immigrant advocacy groups and community organizations. The special primary election will be Tuesday, March 3 with the special general election coming on April 7.
