There has always been debate about when is the best time to introduce solid foods to your child. But now a new study says introducing a variety of solid, textured foods before the age of 10 months may prevent them from becoming picky eaters. Among children followed from birth, picky eating was more prevalent among those who were not fed solid, textured foods by the age of 9 months compared with those who had been introduced to such foods when they were 6 to 9 months old.

The study appears in the journal Maternal and Child Nutrition. But parents should check with doctors before introducing certain foods.
