Swedish research: Never too late to exercise

March 6, 2009 Swedish researchers report people who put off regular workouts even until their 50s and 60s can still benefit.

As a matter of fact, they say, increasing activity level in middle age can prolong life as much as giving up smoking.

The 20-year study followed more than 2,000 middle-aged men. Those who drastically changed their exercise habits lived the longest.

The report in the British Medical Journal also emphasizes being active at any age reduces blood pressure and cholesterol and helps control your weight.
