Joliet cop quits rather than answer questions

A Joliet police officer facing a criminal probe has quit his job rather than answer questions from internal affairs. He was to be questioned about allegedly squeezing cash out of motorists during traffic stops.

The 22-year veteran was ordered to answer those questions on January 26.

Police are working with the state's attorney's office to determine whether there's sufficient evidence to pursue an indictment.
