Family, friends remember radio legend

March 9, 2009 Pegue died of heart failure last week at the age of 64.

A funeral service was held today at the Apostolic Church of God on the city's South Side. For over 40 years, Pegue was an on air personality and program director for several radio stations including WVON and WGCI.

He loved playing songs from yesteryear. Fans often referred to him as the 'king of the dusties.' He called his long time show, "The Best Music of Your Life."

"Richard loved radio, he loved good music, he loved his family. But I think most of all he loved the Dusty Record Convention," said Marv Dyson, radio executive.

Most recently, Pegue's show was heard on WKKC FM.
