March 10, 2009 --
A 7-year-old girl from Long Island is heading home from the hospital. Just four weeks ago Heather McNamara underwent an operation to remove a very large tumor that also required removal of six major organs. Doctors say that was the only way they could get to the inoperable tumor.
It's the first time this type of surgery has been performed on a child.
Heather's surgery took 23 hours last month.
Her parents say the doctors at Morgan Stanley Children's Hospital in New York City gave them hope and gave them back their daughter.
