Hideg teaches 22 students in first-grade at Walsh Elementary School in Lockport.
"Oh I think that's important, so they feel that they're part of a group of a centralized group here as well as at home," said Hideg.
"She helps us do our math when we need help and she helps us makes our things," said Filip Gaborek, first-grader.
"She's very nice. She does a lot of nice things for us, like taking us to Pizza Hut," said Francesca Martino, first-grader.
p> Hideg has endeared herself to parents by sending personalized letters to every youngster in her class each fall."There is no doubt that she eats, breathes and sleeps her students. She has them to her house for special occasions...she recognizes everyone of them for anything they do," said Teresa martin, Walsh principal.
"She keeps track of all the students. She sends out birthday cards with kids from years past. (She's an) extremely, extremely giving woman and she will be sorely missed," said Heidi Martino, parent.
"I'm very fortunate that I choose a profession that I go to and I love doing it every day...its always been going to school," said Hideg. "I guess I've been a lucky person all the way around."
