Expect to see a hiring freeze in place very soon for Cook County government. Board president Todd Stroger is planning to issue an executive order next month, according to the Chicago Sun-Times.

The freeze would apply to all jobs except for positions subject to a court order funded by grants or part of the health and hospital system.

All elected county officials would have to get the approval of the county board to hire anyone.
