CTA slow zones persist after lack of funding

Some CTA trains are operating at lower speeds because track repairs are delayed due to lack of funds. About 19 miles of track are slow zones. That's an increase from 15 miles in December.

Efforts to replace rotted rail ties and rusty tracks were suspended over the winter. CTA officials say money is not available for additional work.

The problem could get worse if government funding is not approved soon.
