She worked as a teacher and cross country coach at Rich South High School in Richton Park.
Police say the parents of a 16-year-old boy notified them in December saying they thought their son was having a sexual relationship the teacher.
She was arrested on Tuesday.
The school district says Tolzien has resigned.
