April 2, 2009 --Former Secretary of State Colin Powell took part in an event on Thursday night leading up to this month's opening of the Illinois Holocaust Museum in Skokie."This museum and education center will remind once again what the holocaust was all about," said Powell.
Powell joined Auschwitz survivor Fritzie Fritzshall in lighting a candle of remembrance. He then gave a keynote speech to more than 2,000 thousand people.
