3 communities vote for Cook Co. secession

April 8, 2009 It's a non-binding referendum asking voters to consider disconnecting from Cook County because of last year's sales tax hike.

In Palatine Township, the vote was overwhelming, with 73 percent approving the referendum.

In neighboring Barringtown Township, more than 65 percent of voters said yes.

And in Hanover Township, more than 60 percent of voters approved the referendum.
