Turbine to provide electricity to school

April 9, 2009 Crews on Thursday finished installing an urban wind turbine at Rhodes School in River Grove.

School officials believe the turbine is the first of its kind in the country.

It's expected to produce about 400 kilowatt hours of electricity per month or about half of the electricity that an average home would use.

The turbine will also be used as an educational tool to teach students about alternative power and saving energy.
