Some McDonald's could be boosting prices

April 13, 2009 Crain's Chicago Business is reporting that a consulting firm that advises McDonald's franchisees is recommending steeper increases this year than it has in the past.

Price hikes are unlikely to affect the chain's popular dollar menu as franchise owners are strongly encouraged by corporate to not touch those.

Bigger price boosts to other menu items could bring some relief to franchisees hurting by higher food costs and expenses associated with the company's push into specialty coffees.

Calls to McDonald's about the possible price hikes were not returned.
