Bogota, Colombia, becomes 28th sister city

April 28, 2009 (CHICAGO) Bogota, Colombia, joins 27 other global cities. Mayor Richard M. Daley signed the declaration Tuesday morning at the Chicago global cities forum on the UIC campus. Busan, South Korea and Lahore, Pakistan were the last sister cities added in 2007. Sister cities are selected because they have a comparable population or are the main city of a country that has sent many immigrants to Chicago over the years.
