Woman honored for work in community

A woman many give credit for helping make a difference in the lives of a lot of people in the Latino community was honored on Tuesday night.Mary Gonzalez-Koenig founded the group Spanish Coalition for Jobs. The organization is now known as the National Latino Education Institute.

Gonzalez-Koenig is retiring after 37 years of running the activist organization.

Twelfth Ward Alderman George Cardenas dedicated an honorary street sign to honor her work.
