'Girl X' to move out of rehab center

May 4, 2009 (CHICAGO) In 1997 at age 9 she was kidnapped, raped, poisoned and left for dead in a stairwell in the Cabrini Green housing complex.

The attack left her severely disabled.

Now at age 22, Girl X will be too old to live at the Illinois Center for Rehabilitation and Education.

Current Cook County state's attorney, Anita Alvarez, helped prosecute the man who attacked Girl X and has since maintained a close relationship with her.

"She's very excited about being on her own as well as she could but she obviously is going to have a lot of needs," said Anita Alvarez, Cook County state's attorney.

A board has been formed to help find Girl X a new permanent home.
