May 9, 2009 (CHICAGO) --Government leaders joined White Sox executives, team members and fans Saturday as the Sox launched their first-ever volunteer corps.The introduction of players drew cheers from the fans. Governor Quinn, Mayor Daley, and Chicago police Supt. Jody Weis were among the officials who came to the rally near U.S. Cellular Field.
The team designated Saturday as a service day.
Hundreds of volunteers spent the day doing restoration work at two boys and girls clubs.
