Droplets might protect against ear infections

There could soon be a new option for children with ear infections. Vaccines delivered via droplets rubbed into the skin appear to protect against ear infections.

Researchers tested the method on lab animals. If this approach proves effective in humans, it could provide a simple, inexpensive way of preventing ear infections.

It's estimated that up to 83 percent of children in the US will have at least one ear infection by the time they're 3.
