Kids make pledge to reject violence

May 21, 2009 (CHICAGO) Kids at Chatham Avalon Elementary signed forms promising to resolve problems without violence.

They were encouraged by Fr. Michael Pfleger of St. Sabina Church. He told the children they can help save lives at their age.

"We need you to make a decision right now in your age that you'll never touch a gun. That you'll never have anything to do with a gun and if you see one that you'll always tell your parents," said Fr. Michael Pfleger, St. Sabina Church.

The pledge will be distributed to schools and parents throughout the city and its surrounding suburbs.
