Protestors allege CVS selling expired products

May 21, 2009 A survey by the organization Change to Win contends CVS stores in nine states, including Illinois, are repeatedly selling expired goods.

Community leaders joined the group to hold a demonstration outside one of the stores on Thursday.

They had a table heaped with expired products they claim were recently bought at CVS.

"CVS has a responsibility. And we're calling on the company to do right when it comes to the people and communities it serves," said Rev. Calvin Morris, executive director, Community Renewal Society.

They are planning a larger rally for June 18.

CVS responded by saying, "We have a clear product removal policy in place at all of our stores to help ensure that items are removed from our shelves before they reach their expiration date...this is the latest in a series of misleading attacks by change to win".
