If you plan on driving or taking a cruise out of the country this summer, get ready for some stricter ID requirements when you return home.Starting June 1, U.S. citizens returning by land or sea from Canada, Mexico, Bermuda and the Caribbean must have a passport or other secure ID.

Right now, Americans returning from those countries do not need a passport at the border or a sea port.

Back in 2007, a new rule required u-s air travelers to have a passport upon return from those countries.

If you are planning a driving trip to Canada, remember it can take a month or longer to get a passport.
