The purpose of the event is to put issues affecting children before state legislators. Organizers from the Chicago Area Project are concerted about a number of proposed funding cuts that could impact after school programs, summer jobs programs and more.
Several students will give speeches.
The theme for this years' event is "What About Us?"
Thursday morning, Governor Pat Quinn testified before a house committee about a bill that would allow governors to be recalled. The house committee has approved the measure, which now goes to the full house.
If approved, voters in Illinois will decide next year if the recall will be part of the constitution.
Lawmakers have until Sunday to hammer out a new budget.
