County board to discuss lowering sales tax

A proposal seeking to override President Todd Stroger's veto of the county's sales tax rollback will be part of the Cook County Board's agenda Tuesday.

The vetoed ordinance would have cut the sales tax three-quarters of a percent by next January, and it would have cut sales taxes another quarter percent by January 2011.

There are at least two more proposals on the agenda Tuesday that will seek a rollback to the Cook County sales tax.
