City expands 'blue cart' program

June 11, 2009 (CHICAGO) The program will include the area from Diversey to North Avenue and Kedzie to the Lake. See Map

The Blue Carts will be delivered in late June and pickup will begin the week of July 6.

Residents should put out their blue carts with their curbside pickup during their assigned week. See Schedule

For years, the city had a blue bag program, but officials hope the carts will lead to a higher participation. Residents whose neighborhoods are not yet part of the program can visit one of 30 drop off centers.

The city will hold three community meetings on the Blue Cart program to answer questions:
