June 15, 2009 (GARY, Ind.) --Many city bus riders in Gary, Ind., were left waiting by the curb after bus drivers walked off the job Monday. Union officials say 75-percent of Gary's city bus drivers called in sick in a move aimed at showing frustration over stalled contract negotiations.
Bus drivers are angry over proposed layoffs and possible elimination of some routes to make up for revenue losses.
The walk off caused chaos for passengers who were trying to get to work.
