27th Annual Long Grove Strawberry Festival

Strawberries mean summer and what better way to start the first few days of summer than with a whole festival devoted to the delicious fruit. Long Grove Historic Village will celebrate the 27th Annual Strawberry Festival on June 26, 27 & 28 with food, fun, shopping bargains and family-friendly entertainment throughout the historic downtown area. This is the granddaddy of Long Grove's signature festivals, drawing close to 30,000 visitors to the historic business district for the 3-day event. Admission, parking and entertainment are free. Highlights:
  • ? Food: Enjoy everything strawberry ? from chocolate dipped fresh strawberries, strawberry donuts on a stick, strawberry daiquiris, coffees and teas, popcorn, shaved ice, strawberry cannolis, strawberry wines, strawberry balsamic vinegar, smoothies, shortcake, strudel, pies ? fruit is good for us - right?!
  • ? Entertainment: live music from morning to night Friday, Saturday and Sunday at venues throughout the downtown district. (See schedule below)
  • ? Shopping: More than 70 shops, boutiques, art galleries, International import shops, home furnishing stores and restaurants ? many with strawberry delicacies, dishes or special discounts.
  • ? Children's activities: Families will enjoy child-friendly booths, face painting, kiddie rides and pony rides.
  • ? Ice Cream Eating Contests ? at Timmy's Sandwiches and Ice Cream on Towner Green ? 3 pm on Saturday and Sunday ? several age groups ? sign up in advance.
  • ? Little Miss Strawberry Pageants: Illinois Pageants Galore will be choose a Miss Strawberry Queen, princess, princes and baby at Long Grove's 27th Annual Strawberry Fest on Sunday, June 28.
  • - Miss Strawberry Queen Contest. Registration at 12:30 pm. Contest begins at 1 pm. - Strawberry Princess Pageant and Prince Contest. Registration at 2 pm; Contest begins at 2:30 pm.
  • ? Strawberry Shortcake Baby Contest. Registration 4 pm; contest begins at 4:30. (Times are approximate, based on number of entrants).

Free Festival Shuttle to two remote parking sites on Saturday and Sunday: Geimer Greenhouses, (2 miles south) 2727 Route 53 just north of Lake Cook Road., or Apachi Day Camp, (2 miles north) just north of Route 22 on Old McHenry Road. Continuous service from 11 am to 6 pm to both locations.
