Program feeds low-income kids while school's out

June 24, 2009 (CAROL STREAM, Ill.) "Feed the Kids" project kicked off in Carol Stream. Members of the humanitarian service project handed out food at a warehouse.

The program helps fill the summer gap for children of low-income families who receive free or reduced price meals during the school year. Families receive fresh fruit, vegetables, meats, bread, and healthy snacks.

Wednesday's event is the first of three this summer. The next distribution is July 22 and another on August 26.
