5 Ind. bus systems split $9.4M in transit funds

June 25, 2009 (INDIANAPOLIS) Federal officials say Evansville will use its $2.6 million to buy three hybrid buses, six replacement vans, new bus shelters and transit-related equipment.

Northern Indiana's Michiana Area Council of Governments will receive $2.1 million to buy six new trolley buses and other items, including new communications equipment.

Terre Haute's $1.3 million will pay to buy five new buses, renovate a maintenance and storage building and other projects.

Bloomington will get $1.7 million for a new downtown transfer facility, while much of Muncie's $1.6 million will go toward three new hybrid buses.
