Suburb cracks down on drivers with loud stereos

July 1, 2009 On Tuesday, officers ticketed 11 drivers because their stereos could be heard at least 75 feet away from their vehicles. Seventy-five dollar violations were handed out as part of an undercover operation.

Aurora police say they've received complaints about the noise.

Four of the 11 vehicles were impounded because of additional violations. Those drivers had to pay additional fines for towing and impounding.

Police also arrested three motorists for not having valid driver's licenses.

Aurora police targeted three locations. They plan to conduct similar operations in the future.
