Apparent bidding war over Cubs

A bidding war is apparently brewing over the sale of the Chicago Cubs. According to The Chicago Tribune, a second potential buyer is still in negotiations to buy the team. A group led by former Chicagoan Marc Utay is working on a deal.

Monday, The Tribune reported that the Ricketts family was close to a deal to buy the Cubs and Wrigley Field. The Ricketts family is reportedly closer to finalizing an agreement than the Utay group.

Neither group is commenting on the negotiations.
