Boys and Girls Club opens on South Side

July 7, 2009 (CHICAGO) On Thursday, Salem Baptist Church of Chicago cut the ribbon on a new Boys and Girls Club.

Club members then led tours of the club where children enjoyed activities including arts and crafts and dancing.

Salem Baptist church founder and pastor Reverend James Meeks says the club fills a vital need in the Roseland-Pullman neighborhood.

The club already has 200 students.

Reverend Meeks hopes to double that to 400 and also open more Girls and Boys clubs.
