Talbert enlisted in the Illinois Army National Guard in 2007. This was his first deployment.
Two other Guard members died this week when their vehicle hit a roadside bomb Monday. They were 41-year-old 2nd Lieutenant Derwin Williams of suburban Glenwood and 35-year-old Specialist Chester Hosford of Ottawa.
