Ind., Ky. governors to promote road projects

July 15, 2009 (INDIANAPOLIS) Beshear is expected to sign the bill Wednesday.

The plan seeks two spans between Louisville, Ky., and southern Indiana's Clark County, and a busy interchange of interstates in Louisville. The project was approved by the federal government in 2003, but has stalled as Kentucky lawmakers debated how to fund their portion of the costs.

It's now expected to cost $4.1 billion, and Indiana plans to pay it's $1.1 billion portion largely with money from leasing the Indiana Toll Road to a private venture.
