City booting cars with unpaid tickets

July 15, 2009 (CHICAGO) Chicago is on a booting blitz. In the three months since the city council's controversial decision to go after motorists with two unpaid parking tickets, the number of vehicles to get the Denver boot has increased nearly eight-fold, to almost 3500 vehicles.

Previously, the threshold for applying the boot was three unpaid tickets.

The blitz is part of the effort make a dent in the threatened $300 million year-end budget shortfall.
