Data: How Illinois is spending stimulus money

July 20, 2009 The state received $935 million from the economic stimulus bill. Most of the projects focus on repairing infrastructure across the state.

Out of about 340 projects that have gotten money so far, nearly 250 are dedicated to road repaving and similar improvements, according to the Department of Transportation.

Illinois is also using the money to start repairing aging bridges, with more than 30 projects on the federal list for bridge repair and upgrades.
