July 20, 2009 (CHICAGO) --Students at 132 Chicago public schools go back to class on August 10, three weeks from Monday. CPS CEO Ron Huberman and others went door-to-door Monday, reminding students near Brian Piccolo school on North Kostner. They also handed out backpacks with schools supplies.
Piccolo is one of 82 schools joining a year-round calendar this school year. Students still have eight weeks of summer vacation, but experts say the shorter break will help students retain what they learn.
