Ill. governor signs bills into law

July 26, 2009 (CHICAGO) The governor signed a total of 22 bills, and among them was a public signing of the 'War on Terrorism Compensation Act,' which he first signed into law during a Friday taping of ABC7 Chicago's "News Views" program.

Service members say the bills can greatly help those coming home after their tours of duty end.

"These troops are coming home at a time of economic turmoil... Important that we have this legislation," said Brig. Gen. Robert Pratt of the Dept. of Military Affairs.

"To me, the opportunity to sign these bills today ...land of Lincoln," said Governor Quinn.

Earlier in the week, Governor Quinn traveled to Iraq and Afghanistan where he met with troops from Illinois.
