University of Illinois President B. Joseph White will testify Monday before a commission investigating alleged abuses of the school's admission system.White has spoken out against the system, which awarded applicants backed by powerful patrons. However, he has allegedly sought special consideration for candidates.
The Tribune reports white asked a subordinate to "flag" the application of a relative of former Chicago Board of Education Chairman Gery Chico.
White allegedly passed along an admission recommendation from then-governor rod Blagojevich.
The applicant, who was to be denied admission, was admitted.
