United to eliminate most frequent flier fees

July 28, 2009 The Chicago-based carrier will eliminate most fees for frequent fliers who book last minute flights after July 30th.

Previously, United frequent fliers had to pay $100 to use reward miles when booking flights within six days of traveling or $75 for travel within seven to 20 days.

Mileage plus members will still have to pay fees to redeem miles at the ticket counter or by phone.
