Shots fired during North Side chase

August 7, 2009 (CHICAGO) Officers on patrol witnessed the shooting around 1:30 a.m. Friday on North Clybourn near West Fullerton. They chased the gunman, who jumped into a minivan for a couple blocks.

During the brief pursuit, the gunman allegedly exchanged fire with officers.

Police eventually forced the minivan to stop near George and Rockwell. They took at least one person into custody.

Police say they recovered a gun.

No officers were hurt. The man shot in the first shooting drove himself to a hospital and was expected to recover.
