Davis seeks support for board president run

August 9, 2009 (CHICAGO) Davis addressed a room of supporters inside the Quinn Chapel AME Church at 24th Street and Wabash in Chicago Sunday and encouraged them to sign petitions in support of his bid.

The congressman told his audience that now is the time for new leadership at the Cook County Board, and he's looking forward to taking on the challenge.

"I've never had a job in my life that I didn't do better than the person that had it before me," said Davis, a Democrat who represents Chicago's South Side.

Davis says he does not plan to run a lot of political commercials, but he and his team will go door-to-door to win over voters.
