Forget conventional wisdom and those silly cartoon images of cranky seniors with angry attitudes.New research shows most people get happier as they grow older, even into their mid 90s.

According to psychologists at the University of California, later life really does tend to be a golden age.

After reviewing studies on emotions and aging, researchers found older adults generally make the best of the time they have left. They also tend to avoid situations that make them feel sad or stressed.

Also, despite frailty and lack of mobility, the research finds many older people lead active healthy lives enriched by experience and learning.
