August 12, 2009 --People with disabilities who use paratransit services are worried the price of their rides are about to go up. They gathered outside the offices of the Regional Transportation Authority Wednesday morning to protest a possible rate hike. Pace manages paratransit services and is facing a $20 million budget gap.
The protestors are concerned the price of a single ride may increase from $2.25 to as much as $4.50.
They point out any increase would be too much for many customers who are low income.
