Video game playing on the rise in US

August 12, 2009 The research company Nielsen says time spent playing video games increased by 21 percent in June. That's compared to the same time last year.

On average, gamers played 768 minutes during the month.

The Xbox 360 and Playstation 2 tied for most-played video game console. They were followed by the Wii. Overall, the Xbox 360 is currently the most-played game machine.

A six-month trend showed the Xbox 360 had the highest number of active users.
