2 men charged in 2003 murder

August 13, 2009 (CHICAGO) On Sept. 2, 2003, 54-year-old Alonzo McInnes, of the 3900-block of West Washington Blvd., was the victim of the fatal break-in and robbery. Police say the men bound him with duct tape. The medical examiner ruled the cause of death to be asphyxiation and classified the case as murder.

On Tuesday, 42-year-old Kenneth Trent, of the 4600-block of South Lawler, was arrested after fingerprint results came back with a match. Police say an accomplice, 39-year-old Anthony Hawkins, was arrested at the Cook County Jail where he was in custody for an unrelated offense.

Both men are charged with first-degree murder.
