An 11-year-old boy credited with saving members of his family from a fire that destroyed their home got a new house on Tuesday. It's a gift from the village of Riverdale. Adonis bell woke up and rescued his grandmother and god-sister from a fire last Wednesday at their South Side home.

After learning of the family's situation and the bravery shown by Adonis, Riverdale's mayor decided to offer the family a house the village had purchased from the federal government for $1.

"I saved my family because If I didn't I wouldn't have anything left but my uncles and aunties. So I thank God for waking me up so I could help my family," said Adonis Bell.

The family has been living with relatives in south suburban Crete since the fire.
