Tough economy impacts magazine sales

The weak economy is hitting magazine sales. An industry group says single-copy sales at newsstands fell 12 percent in the first half of this year. That's compared with the same time last year.

Total circulation, including subscriptions, slipped about 1 percent.

The figures are based on more than 500 magazines.

Cosmopolitan is still the most popular magazine at newsstands. However, its sales fell nearly 8 percent this year.
