A sweater? But it's still summer!

August 31, 2009 (CHICAGO) Even with the bright sunshine on Monday the afternoon temperatures struggled to reach the upper 60s. While a lot milder than the 40s felt Monday morning, it is still more than 10 degrees below normal.

In a summer that has seen very little hot weather, many Chicagoans are wishing for at least a little warmth before summer officially ends.

"It's kind of unfortunate- much of the summer went by quickly and I want the warm weather back," said Myata Waits

"I love the weather but I wish we had a longer summer," said Nicole Brown.

"People can't really get into the summer. One day you're warm, dressing down, then you have the sweatshirt on. I would rather it stayed one way or the other Hot or cold, or moderate like this," said Andrew Sanders.

This weather is more suited for early October. Ten of the last 11 days have produced below normal temperatures.

Only four days have hit 90-degress this summer. The average summer has about 18 days of 90-degrees.

The average temperature for June – August is approximately 69.1-degrees, which is two degrees below normal

It is expected to warm up a bit this week, but not into the 90s. However, Chicago has seen higher temperatures in early October. So don't put away those summer clothes quite yet.
